On a cold winter day in January 2009, Bram van der Veer launched his first price comparison website from his bedroom in Alkmaar, The Netherlands. This proved successful pretty quickly, so in the next couple of years a lot of other comparison websites were launched with help of Microsoft Frontpage and Ws_FTP.Â
A few years later the name REBEL Internet BV was adopted and an office in the centre of Amsterdam was opened. From there REBEL Internet has grown into a company with 12+ employees, with digital projects aiming to help business owners across different platforms with ranking their projects, services or video online.
Nowadays, REBEL Internet focuses on the following fields:
"The only constant is change" - This applies to our entrepreneurial journey we have made since 2008. A brief overview of some of our projects:
What: Online Shop - Importing physical goods from China, selling in our own online shop Prijspiraat.nl (🔗). The good old times!
What: Affiliate Marketing. We launched product comparison websites (prepaid mobile phone plans, wireless broad brand internet, broadband internet options, coupons & more. (🔗) & (🔗)
We grow our websites and eventually sell several of our websites. We hold over 200 domains names at this point.
More innovative affiliate concepts are launched, like a car sharing comparison platform & p2p lending comparison platform.
In January of 2013 we rebrand to REBEL Internet BV and officially establish our holding structure with a BV (Limited company).
We launch our auction website and is one of the leading penny auction websites in The Netherlands during that time.
Around the same, Kortingscodeland.nl rebrands into Vouchercode.nl.
In 2015 MrKortingscode.nl (Mister Kortingscode) is launched (🔗). Based in the Jordaan area in Amsterdam city centre, with a team of 11, our team finds and lists 2000+ coupons & offers per year.
Mrkortingscode ultimately expands to 16 countries worldwide and is still active in most of them to date.
During the years we've launched, built and exited various affiliate marketing concepts (compare parkings, compare broadband internet, health & labour insurances, compare datingsites) in various countries (NL, BE, AT, DE, FR)
After being an Bol.com third party seller for a brief while, we noticed an opportunity for SEO for marketplaces. Since then, under the brand of WebGeeks , we've launched various digital webmaster services.
Some would call us a startup, or a collection of startups (a so called startup studio). Besides being active since 2008, there are other reason why we think we should not be labeled a startup:
